What to Expect

Preliminary Information

  • All clients are asked to fill out an intake form that contains preliminary questions to determine your overall health and your desired results from your session.
  • The initial intake is to establish the structure of the session to achieve optimal results.
  • Together, we will review the intake form and explore your health and wellness goals, and the role of modalities in helping you to accomplish those goals. We will review your physical condition, medical history, lifestyle, stress levels, medications, and any areas that could affect the outcome of our sessions together.
  • Achieving your optimal wellness goals is my sincere intent.  In the case that in order to achieve this is outside my scope of practice,  you may be referred to a different professional  that may be more effective to help you. see disclaimer (d.)
  • It is your responsibility to inform me of any medical changes or changes in your health.

  • It is my intent to create and maintain a healing space that honors all clients, without discrimination, please communicate any preferences you may have and I will do my best to accommodate those for you.

  • I value your modesty and comfort, most massage done on the table is best performed with the client undressed. If this type of massage (a full body session) is what you are receiving, you will be asked to remove clothing, to your level of comfort. Leaving underwear on/off is your decision.
  • You will be instructed to lie on the massage table, underneath the provided sheet, that will cover your body except for the part being massaged.
  • I will leave the room while you undress (if applicable);  please remove any jewelry or other articles that might interfere with the massage.
  • Draping with massage services is required by Nevada State Law.

The Session

  • Regarding Massage
  • Refrain from eating a meal 2 hours prior to your appointment. It is advisable to refrain from caffeine also at lease 2 hours prior to your session as it spikes your energy levels, interfering with the session.
  • Depending on your needs with massage, I will massage either the full body (except private areas) or only specific areas depending on our massage plan. In example: the back and neck for a whiplash injury.
  • I may apply essential oils in your session. These will either be by inhalation or topical application to your skin. Please communicate any sensitivities to any oils you may have.
  • A massage vibration device may be used by my discretion to help increase circulation.
  • Various techniques may be applied according to your session plan to help you achieve optimal results. In some instances I may do stretches, including table Thai massage, where I may be on the massage table.
  • You may be shown specific exercises/stretches to do on your own at home. In the instances where this occurres, please note that this is part of the minutes of your scheduled session.
  • Regarding Reiki:
  • Reiki is a spiritual intuitive healing art. It is a modality that is intended to be a stress reduction and aid in relaxation.
  • As a Reiki practitioner, I may provide Reiki during a massage session, only with your verbal or written permission.
  • Reiki currently does not have a regulated license in the state of Nevada. The completion of my energetic healing arts training does not provide license or certification for hands-on bodywork. The Nevada State Massage Therapists license I hold does permit me to "lay my hands" on a person while performing Reiki.
  • Reiki is meant only to compliment medical treatments and not to replace them.
  • My hands may be placed gently on or over your body. You may "feel" my hands or sensations such as warmth during distance sessions.
  • During your session, you may experience different feelings, or just a sense of deep relaxation. Whatever you notice, these are all part of your healing experience.
  • Simply allow the experience to unfold. You may notice at moments I will have my hands on your body, and other moments I will not.
  • It is important to me that you have a safe, positive, and healing experience.  To do this, I will “check in” with you throughout the session, by asking you how you’re doing, pressure etc.  If you are uncomfortable at any time, please don’t hesitate to communicate.
  • Each session is a healing modality that supports wellness.  You are encouraged to actively participate in your session by being aware of your body and breath during the treatment.
  • All sessions are non-sexual. Any conduct of such, or if in any way I feel uncomfortable, will result in termination of the session.
  • After your session, I will give you the privacy to get up and get dressed (if applicable) .  Then, I’ll encourage you to drink water.

Follow Up

  • The therapeutic effects of massage, yoga and Reiki are cumulative, we will speak together about a recommended treatment plan to meet your health and wellness goals.
  • It is not uncommon to feel a little sore, even a day after your massage or Yoga, as these sessions encourages the release of toxic waste, acids etc. that are held in the muscles and tissues.
